Working method & Practical Information
Holistic view, knowledge and approach
It has been my experience, both in my work with people and in my personal life, that health and well-being or lack thereof manifests itself in different ways and never has a single cause. Health is a union of the body and the psyche. A complaint therefore always has both a physical and a psychological component. You may experience the discomfort mainly physically in the form of digestive problems, headaches, fatigue, or an autoimmune disease. Or psychologically in the form of depression, fears, concentration problems or mood swings. The cause, and thus the solution, is layered. Only tackling the visible problem would amount to treating the symptom. Because it does not address the underlying cause and imbalance in the entire system, it is often a temporary solution or one complaint is replaced by another.
In my practice, we therefore look at your entire system together. For this I use my knowledge as a psychologist, orthomolecular advisor, trauma therapist, and yoga teacher to arrive at a personal approach that consists of methods that all reinforce each other and focus on both the cause and the expression of the imbalance.
Working together for your optimal health
Health is not something you have or don't have. It is the result of various fluctuating factors. You don't always have full control over that. Sometimes a condition cannot simply be cured, or genes play an important role. At the same time, fortunately there are also a lot of factors that you can influence and your health is largely the result of the choices you make every day. This is good news! It gives you choices and possibilities.
In the sessions I guide you in your process, but I also give you the knowledge and tools that make it possible for you to get started at home. Whether it's adjustments in your diet, the release of tension through your body, or the softening of trauma, the greatest healing and growth happens by putting what you learn into practice every day. I guide you in this.
In person or online
Sessions can take place in person in the practice in Amsterdam or online. You can also choose to do some of the sessions in person and some online. In that case, I recommend doing the intake session in person and the follow-up sessions online.
The online sessions are via video calling via the Better Health app. This is a safe environment that complies with the privacy conditions. The online sessions are not recorded.
If you are scheduling an online session for therapy, especially TRE®, make sure you position your laptop so that you are fully visible, whether standing or sitting.
Personal data and privacy
During the intake and the sessions you share a lot of your personal experiences and information with me. To ensure that this information is stored securely and can only be viewed by me, but also by you, I work with the Better Health platform. At the start of your trajectory with me you will receive your own account. With the Better Health app you always have access to your account. Here you will find all forms, health information such as lab values that you share with me, protocols that I prepare for you, exercises that I share with you, and notes from the sessions. You can also send me messages and find your upcoming appointments via the app. In short, everything conveniently in one clear and safe place!
Individual sessions are invoiced afterwards, within 14 days after the session, and can be paid by bank transfer. Packages are invoiced after the intake and the first treatment plan.
Unfortunately, it is becoming increasingly difficult to get covered for care that falls outside the regular package. In 2022, coverage was again canceled or cut down at various insurers. As a result, the amount of compensation that an additional insurance provides is, in many cases, less than the costs it entails. Sessions are not covered at this time. Should this change in the future, it will be stated here.
If finances are an obstacle in getting the care you need, it is possible to pay in instalments through a payment plan.
Reschedule or cancel appointments
If you want to reschedule or cancel an appointment, you can do so free of charge up to 48 hours in advance by sending a message via the Better Health app. Sessions canceled or rescheduled less than 48 hours but more than 24 hours in advance will be charged at 50%. Sessions canceled or rescheduled less than 24 hours in advance will be charged 100%.
