Theory and Safe Practices to Facilitate Grounding and Embodiment During or After Times of Stress, Trauma or Illness.  

I am excited to offer this unique training which brings together the field of Psychology, embodied (trauma) therapy, and Yoga Therapy.  The training is offered online through The Yoga Therapy Institute, founded by Montserrat G. Mukherjee. This 50-hour module is part of the complete Yoga Therapy training, but can also be taken as a stand-alone training and is open to yoga therapists, teachers, health practitioners, and those who like to learn these methods for their own practice and healing.

This training will be offered in English only.

The Program

Tension and traumatic experience settle in the body and are often experienced as physical sensations.

In an effort to escape these sensations, dissociation can become a to go to state, which is often an obstacle in cognitive therapy, but also in the functioning of people in daily life.

Physical practices are a very effective tool to release access tension, facilitate are more grounded state, and create awareness around dissociation which plays an important part in any healing process.

In this module, Suze will explain the way tension settles in the body, looking at the nervous system, but also at the fascia and certain muscles.


Students will learn how different physical practices can facilitate the release of this tension and create embodiment an the physical and mental effects of different movement modalities.


These include moving beyond the common restorative and meditative yoga practices and applying the physical practice to create mobility, functional strength, tension release, balance, and a grounded state.

  • Reading body signals

  • Understanding the effects of tension and trauma on the nervous system  

  • When and how to apply touch in a safe and trauma aware manner

  • To apply alignment in a functional way

  • To understand the role fascia plays in tension, presence, and mobility in the body

  • To manage your own grounding and embodiment

  • To have an increased awareness of your posture and the relationship between your body and your emotional state

  • To functionally apply physical practices for different situations and needs

The Accommodation

You will be staying at an elegant and homely Masseria surrounded by vineyards and olive trees in the small town of Salice Salentino. The house consists of six spacious rooms, each with its own bathroom, underfloor heating, king-size beds (which can be separated into two single beds) and fine cotton linens, a salty water pool, and 2 public toilets. We share our meals in the large kitchen and the yoga classes will take place in a separate in- or outdoor space depending on the weather. 

The Teacher

Suze (Msc) has a background in Psychology and is a certified Yoga teacher and Yoga Nidra Facilitator, teaching yoga since 2006. Suze is also a certified Body Oriented Trauma Therapist and Orthomolecular Therapist. She combines this with specific practices like TRE® (Trauma Release Exercises), Functional Range Conditioning (FRC®), and Family Constellations.

Suze strongly believes that the holistic approach of combining yoga with different

disciplines in the field of psychology, nutrition, and trauma therapy, offer all the

tools we need to not only find inspiration but to gain insight and find the healing

that can alter the course of our lives.

Her yoga teaching style is a combination of challenging asana sequences, focus on alignment, deep embodiment, and self-healing. The challenging parts of the practice are met with humor and clear guidance that keeps you safe and grounded. Suze's yoga nidra and meditation classes offer you the relaxation that goes beyond just physical relaxation and allows healing to take place on a deeper level.
